What is a clean room? Why must test and certify clean rooms

Clean rooms are often designed to avoid environmental impacts on production or scientific research. Clean rooms have very low temperature, humidity and very low levels of pollution such as dust, microorganisms, airborne objects and volatile chemicals. In industry, clean rooms are used in hardware manufacturing and maintenance such as integrated circuits (IC s) and hard drives. In biotechnology and medicine, clean rooms are used when needed to ensure the environment has no bacteria, viruses or other pathogens. Because of such strict conditions, it is necessary and important to assess the cleanliness of a clean room.

The main cleanroom testing targets include:

- Count particles to classify clean levels

- Determination of HEPA filter leakage

- Determine air flow isotropy

- Measuring air velocity

- Measuring air flow

- Determine room pressure

- Measure the intensity of visible light

- Measure noise

- Test the temperature evenly

- Try moisture evenly

Optional test targets include:

- Microbiological testing

- Measure vibration

- Air exchange

- Conductivity

- Electrostatic

- Play ion

Clean rooms are classified based on the number and size of particles suspended in the air in a certain volume.
